Of course, you were quite intelligent. You had to fight for a lot of things in life.
A lot would have fallen by the wayside.

We have come a long way, ladies! And it was about time. I really can't understand why MOTHERS do not warn their sons that the boy is just as responsable as the girl when pregnancy happens. Both my sons, and all the lads who hung out at my house, were made aware of that fact when the dating age approached.

What a sweet post! Indeed. Times were different then. I really enjoyed reading this, hearing about your school days, and remembering my own school days.

My little bush school where 12-15 kids was it with grades1-7. One could leave school at 14. Some went by bus to a bigger school in one of the towns or went onto boarding school in the city. I never felt anything but dislike for every teacher i ever had. Bit sad really.

Good morning
This is a cool story. The fifties were an era like no other. Post WWII, women were wearing pants more and more and steering away from dresses due to having been in the workforce and taking over the jobs that were once only meant for men. I can only imagine what that must have been like to be pregnant during that time when everyone was very judgemental about high school pregnancies. My mother was one of those "delinquents." She ended up dropping out of high school due to the non-stop rumors and continuous ridicule. It is also the year of my class reunion, all except mine is the 40th. I'm just not feeling up to flying back to Oregon at this time since I am in the middle of so many upgrades on my house.
