A Moment of Quiet Violence

A young woman sat back in a corner, a young man leaning over the little table, intimidating her with his voice, his manner, his bigger-ness. She remained still and stiffly aware of being in public as he became less and less aware or caring of it. Or maybe he relished the notion that he was punishing her publicly, humiliating her for her transgressions against him. I have no idea what he was angry about, or if he was justified.
