ROUNDS

On my vest, in pouches front lies death incarnate, Stacked neatly in offset vertical columns are they, Slim tapered metal things of brass, steel, and lead, Marvels of design and manufacturing excellence, The result of nearly nine hundred years of experience, I of the 7.62 mm generation, have accepted these lesser ones, A mere 5.56 mm, these new ones are not very imposing, Officially titled M855 NATO Standard SS 109 type 5.56mm, Needles of death are they, referred to simply as rounds, Yet, their...
