HOME PORT Every sailor has a home port, A berth that is his and his alone, A good woman, warm fire, good cheer, A place to weather any storm by the sea, Whether in his bed, or at the pub, The wharf, or the hills and forest around, He belongs, this is home, part and part of him, A harbor snug and secure against life perils, A place to rest, refit, resupply, and relax, No matter where in the world he sails, His ship’s name and home port identifies him, Even more than his name or rank, Thus with a...
