In part 4, Ben finally met Lizzie’s and Billy’s aunt, Emily, and they have been discussing the war ( it is 1916 ), and Emily is surprised when Ben tells her that it is stupid for British and German lads to be killing each other; and that he prays for the war to end, so that German soldiers too can go home to their loved ones.
