The Pinewood Derby competition between Ivy and the Cub Scouts, Part II

Before deciding on the final design of Ivy’s Pinewood Derby car, it was necessary to guess what things could make her car cross the finish line before all the competition. My intuition told me that since the maximum weight allowable, is capped at five ounces, a heavier car ought to roll faster than a lighter one. This could be true, or not, but one must begin somewhere with a strategy for design. Another intuition told me that equalization of the weight distribution on each of the wheels, ought...
