Monsoon

I was choked with desolation when the monsoon caused the saguaro to sway in the wind and the lightning to spread jagged fingers on the earth I was heavy with disappointment when the sky split and a lizard emerged from the creosote bush, splendid in a new suit of rain-washed scales I was deadened...
