About this Blog

I admire the Japanese culture more than any other culture in the world. Their strict adherence to cultural traits and their own personal self-discipline leave me ashamed of my own shortcomings, which are many. However, I feel like I do have an ability to write meaningful Haiku and am disappointed with the many writers of "Haiku" which depart from the traditional "5-7-5" format. Here are some of my works for your enjoyment. Fauxtrains are a poetic style I created myself by accident, thinking I was writing Quatrains. Not sure how I made the error but I like it. They are similar to Haiku in that it is a strict format, eight lines, syllable count of 2-4-6-8-6-4-2 and no punctuation or capitolization. However, Subject matter is completely open, whereas Haiku is supposed to be strictly about nature with no human element! Try it and send me your efforts!
