Good post
The same points I was trying to hit on in mine. It's like a painter trying to paint a flower when he has never seen a flower, but only has a discription of one to work with. He might produce a likeness of the flower, but how can he produce the way the light reflected from it's petals, it fragrance, because I've seen painting of flowers that give you the sense of their frafrance. Art is of the soul. And unless you have actually experienced something with all of your available senses then how can you possibly attempt to show some one else in your art the emotional feelings of the moment.

thanks

for kicking my ass

I needed your post.  I had to read 300 novels before I had any idea how to write a short story.  I am now waiting for the results of my first fiction contest.  Writing is a bitch.  I love it so much.  Thanks for what you wrote.
