- Go to My Rottweiler Fell in the Pool & Got Trapped Under the Pool Cover
Ya know, Kay-Ren, I must confess,
I didn't want to give the outcome away in the title...

Thanks, Jemmie,
Yes, she's okay. I have been paranoid since then (even though the pool has never been any problem with them and the cover is off) but still...

Bridgetjm,
She is okay, thanks (and yes, I do think I had a mild heart attack!)
mariantonia, of course my dogs know how to swim! My German Shepherd won't stay out of the pool, but my Rottweiler never cared to even step on a stair to the pool. Yes, she was probably investigating the pool cover when she fell in, and yes, I'm sure she instinctively "doggie paddled" but imagine the fear of walking along and falling into a body of water and when you reach the top for air, there's a tarp blocking you! By the time she found her way to the edge of the cover that had fell into the pool with her, she could have died.

You mean you have a pool and have not yet taught your dogs how to swim? I've seen owners teaching dogs swimming at the beach but I guess that's because its sea-water and there's no fear of cleaning up after the dog hairs. Dogs of bigger breeds are smart and they don't need to be told to avoid the pool. I think your dog fell inj while investigating the pool cover.

Oh how scary! I'm glad she's okay. I would have gone into cardiac arrest.
