Comments on Sunscreen? I'll take my chances

Interesting argument.......

I am bad about using sunscreen, but I am naturally fair complexioned.  I own a tanning bed!!!!

However, I have vittiligo, which is a skin condition where I have some areas that are completely devoid of pigmentation.  They do not know what causes it, but my theory is that I have the propensity for it, and areas that incur physical stress or trauma are afflicted.  I am right hand dominant and I have it on my right hand---once in the scorching sun of the Caribbean, I learned that I need to apply a SPF 9000 to the afflicted areas, after my hand blistered.

Other than that, though, I tend to shy away from sunscreen.  Not so much about fear in my case, just obstinance!

You can use your own alternatives besides the store's sunscreen. Any moisturizer, body cream will do for mild exposures. These protect but don't block uv rays. You can also wear a broad brim hat or cap, long sleeves, long pants. Light colors reflect sunlight.

Sorry about your phone.
As for sunscreen, I believe some people are more prone to skin cancer than others.  Unfortunately, I've known some of these people.  One guy got skin cancer in his early 20's, ignored it, it spread to his brain and he died at 31.  31 is way to young.  Anyhow, if you are on of these people who need sunscreen, please don't ignore it

Well, I think you have a real healthy attitude here, Jeff.

you brave fool!
i usually forget to wear it, and then i pay the price later.  I also feel it in my eyes badly, like i'm going to go blind, or suffer from macular degeneration like my dad.  on the bright side, the environmentalists will probably want to use you as the poster child for saving the hole in the ozone layer among other anti-pollutant messages! tg

Doesn't baby oil work like sun screen?
