Jesus accepted
food and lodging as payment ! I would too. Anyone who wants to feed to and lodge me is welcome to reiki. :-)0))))) Love, Vib

I have a couple of friends who do Reiki. It's really fascinating. I could feel heat, beyond just body heat, coming from their hands.

Hi Vibrance, yes, money is not the problem. Attitudes are.
I wasn't suggesting that reiki practisioners shouldn't be recompensed but I have read some material linking Jesus healing power to the energies that are used in reiki. I guess the tendency is for many of us to think of these forms of healing as 'spiritual' in nature when they are actually energies that are available to and in all of us already. I assume that there must be some establishment of 'market' values in any area. I asked in my previous comment because I think this could be some direction I might take in the future and one does need to eat and pay the tax-man.

Money is not dirty.
That is how I make a living and I also write business articles. It rocks. I love it. I'm happy and I make others feel better. Reiki is not a spiritual belief. you don't have to believe in anything to benefit from it..I love your post and really enjoy reading. Love ~Vib

Thanks for this Vibrance. I believe that we have
healing power in all of our interactions with others if we have that intent and approach with love. I am of the mind that when my cat and I are together and she is purring on my shoulder that I am receiving healing energies from her. I would love to explore these possibilities in my life as I grow away from my dependence upon drugs and overcome my isolating tendencies.
I wonder, how does one apply monetary value for services that spring from spiritual beliefs? Whenever money becomes involved our tendency is to become suspicious of motives. Jesus accepted food and lodging as his 'payment' but never became involved with monetary values for his help.
I have access to many resources out here on the wet-coast and am peripherally involved with a freind who has fully embraced yoga as her expression of life. A flowering period is approaching in my life and I want to be awake and aware as I enter into it.

Thanks for all the terrific background info. Although I had heard the term before, I really didn't know what it was all about.

I feel enlightened!

Vibrance, I've had several reiki treatments and felt wonderful afterward. Didn't realise it was something you could do long distance.
