Ah Spitfire, you had revealed to the world the reason behind the mysterious shoe in the street! I'm glad we understand each other. I was about to publish my explanation in its entirety and if I did so I'd be regarded as the "Shoe Horn to the World."

Spitfire - Inspired post. BTW - socks are sacrificed to the laundry gods -
that's why there is always one missing. I thought everyone knew that.

StrickG, ALL laundry machines EAT things.
It's a known and proven fact. How they pick and choose
what to eat is a different research project. Give me some time...maybe I can find out.

Spitfire this reminds me of a time when I was
cop and my partner and I found a shoe in the right lane still tied, down the road a second then a sock and Tom was in the bushes another 25 yards down the road and his left leg was over on the left in the passing lane and his pants were in a tree, and ....................it was like playing connect the dots!!

My observation is
put a load of laundry in the machine, turn on the water it grows and multiplies. For some reason I can not seem to stay on top of the laundry and my machine eats socks.
