In the worst areas, people are lined up in their cars, 1 mile in either direction, to get a bag of ice and some water at relief stations. 1 million homes are still without power. No gas, no supermarkets open, old folk's homes baking in the heat, people getting in fights over everything because they're hot, exhausted and slightly shell-shocked.
Around me, which wasn't as bad as just north of Palm Beach, there are still about 30,000 without electricity. Power where I am was only out for 32 hours. I went to a supermarket last night...no fresh meat, no frozen food, no dairy, but all the Cream of Asparagus soup you want. Most of the aisles are 3/4 empty.
All of which makes it a little tough to stock up for Ivan, the Commie Bastard Hurricane. However, I still have 120 rounds of shotgun shells, 90 rounds of 9mm, 25 gallons of gas plus a full truck, 35 gallons of water and 5 giant cans of Beefaroni.
Other than that, how was the motorcade, Mrs. Kennedy?

marky baby
Well, good luck with it all, marky-baby. Don't go getting your hair blown off or anything. And if you see Dorothy fly past your window, tell the bitch to stop taking photos of me having a dump.
And again, good luck, sir!

Mark::::Now you've got damage to your dwelling, be sure to call 1800-621-FEMA. I would love to come over and inspect you. Are the lights still out, cuz if we could do it in the dark, that would be even funner.

Tremacc, there is a reporter on CNN right now in West Palm...
He's not even fighting the wind, just really wet. :) Maybe it won't get too bad. They just said that Ft. Lauderdale wasn't too bad, some downed trees, etc. I guess the worst of it is yet to come though....hope you and yours are okay.

Yeah, my ex is in west palm and he says he's riding it out-- he talked to a lot of native floridians and says that's what they are prone to do. I still don't like it though...

It will be a little freaked out until it passes

I was talking about that with someone from Florida today...
that need to stay rather than evacuate....she said, after you go through storm after storm, and realize some of the shelters aren't much safer, you just stay home. Plus, this is a little safer for structures since it is rain, not wind (her words) and it's such a slow moving storm, people don't want to spend that long in a shelter. I'll take earthquakes any day, man. :)

Then I guess he will watch
his Dinty Moore floating past him as he hangs on for dear life. Can a can of stew float? Depends on the current I guess.

Hey, Mark...I wanted to check in to see if you were okay.
Shadow told me you were out there. Any idea where she went to ride out the storm? Looks like Ft. Pierce is getting the worst of it...how close are you to that? I've been looking at maps all night, I should know. :( I get the generator, but how are you still getting DSL? Now, I heard that Ft. Lauderdale is under mandatory evacuation....why didn't you go?
I hope you are safe and there is no serious damage over the next 24 hours. Damn, you guys haven't gotten a break....Charley...Frances...now Ivan coming up. Keep us posted, okay?

Why are you still there?
I would have been long gone! I'm not even there and I am so totally freaked out. I hope all of you Floridan bloggers make it out of this safely.

It didn't have miles on it, or if it did, I missed it. You've probably
told me before, but the wind got a hold of my memory, I guess.

About 12 miles due west of the beach. Geez, haven't you looked at my carefully crafted satellite photos? They're to perfect scale. Sort of.

TachelAnna ~ No, the phones are a whole different deal. I dunno about the cable status, because I have a satellite dish that hasn't gone into orbit yet (it's sorta protected). But, there are 2 million people without power right now.
The eywall just came onshore a bit north of Palm Beach. Winds there are about 105 or so. I dunno how fast they are here, other than WWWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scoop ~ Thanks for the clicks! With the money I've earned on Blogit in the past 19 months I can replace one of my roof shingles! Well, almost.
And I plan on doing a live rooftop report as soon as the winds get over 80 or so. Hopefully, I can catch a neighbor on film when a palm tree flys into his head. Kablooie!

But I was wondering about something...
How the heck are you still online?! What sort of internet connection do you have that you're not kicked off with all the bad weather?

but listen until then we will click you for pennies, unless you can climb a palm tree and get us some good pics of people going assholes over elbows in the storm.
