buxomW, yes indeed! Prince of Tides was disturbing
I forgot about that one. Thanks for reminding me of it.   But really, it was pretty awful. These types of things are the reason I never saw Jody Foster in that home invasion movie. I think it was called Safe Room or something. No thanks!

I'm with Thomas ....
the very first thing that popped into my mind was the male rape scene from "Pulp Fiction". I couldn't bear to watch it - had to leave the room. The same, and then some, goes for the rape of the mother and children in "The Prince of Tides" - I was so utterly unprepared to see it portrayed so graphically and I nearly vomited. To this day, I don't know what I think about Barbra Streisand showing that in the film - whether it was important for the utterly gutting devastation of such to be made known or if it was horrendous to inflict it on those who may have been through the same and not ready to see it so powerfully, revoltingly there. A bit of both, perhaps.

Holy Crap, ltlmac!! NOW, thanks to YOU....I do remember that part!
Gore is an understatement. But, still, that part in the forest and the sound of the werewolf's howls still haunt me today.... Ooooh, next full moon is the 28th....Mom's birthday. Hmmmm...

The most personally disturbing scene that comes to mind immediately is

the last scene in The Ring where that girl comes out of the T.V.!!

Sometimes when I'm in a "scared mood" at night, I can just see her coming down the hallway towards my bedroom and it scares the sh!t out of me!!!  Ack.

American Werewolf In London was one of the scariest movies for me too...

That was a serious mind bender for a youngster...Yikes is right!  Remember the part when the cars sandwiched the policeman in the street...oh man that was some gory chit.  I love it!!

Natual Born Killers was a good film, but it was pretty nasty at times.

I'm glad that one didn't have "torture" scenes  in it so I could watch it all the way through! Yeeks! I get too squeemish when it comes to torture crap.

Some of the scenes from...

. . . Natural Born Killers were pretty nasty.  Still I bought it in the regular version and the widescreen director's cut.  Now THAT was nasty!  Had they left in some of the scenes they cut, it would have been rated X.  As it was, when my best friend and I saw it we left the theater and couldn't speak to each other for at least an hour.  That's how traumatic it is.

But if you can deal with the gore, it is a damn good film.

ltlmac70, I remember watching Invasion of the Body Snatchers, too!
It was creepy, but the dead people with the eyes open? Can't recall which movie that was either. Me and you are like, totally the same age, so if and when I think of it (or you) we will have to tell each other. Other very, very disturbing movies of mine (from childhood) that still scare the hell out of me are: The Exorcist, American Werewolf in London and remember "Devil Dog...Hound of Hell"? Yikes!!

Thanks Shadow...I think Florida may be spared but
the panhandle...who knows. We'll all receive the effects of the surges of Ivan regardless. Now, there seems to be yet ANOTHER one behind Ivan! Oy! It is never ending! History seems to be repeating itself. We won't know where Ivan will eventually go until after he's through blowing through Cuba. (Maybe he'll take Castro with him?!) We'll see!

any close up of dead people with their eyes open...

I couldn't even tell you what movie it was, but I can still conjur up this horrible face with wide open eyes.  The camera gets closer and closer until all you see is the eyes.  It really gave me chills, still does sometimes.  Another good one, not as gory..."Invasion of the Body Snatchers" had two scenes that bothered me a little.  One was the dog that had the human head, and the other was at the end when the woman thinks she's found her friends again.  She runs up desperately relieved, but the guy turns around and lets loose with the Body Snatcher scream of alert.  A vintage freak for ya...

Write On!  ltlmac70 wuz here...

Spitfire,

I avoid violent movies. Not much into horror either. Hey my thoughts and prayers are with you lady, Melody and Hollee with Ivan still a threat. I worry so about word.smith. It may be weeks before we know how she fared.  shadow

Symphony, that movie was awful, wasn't it?
Just the torture is what I couldn't handle. It's weird, cause I can handle blood and guts stuff, but torture? Fagettaboutit!!

Pulp Fiction! That was nasty! Good choice!

Sorry David1S!!
But it doesn't surprise me that we were both totally disturbed by that part of that movie!

Ca88andra, I found Trainspotting fascinating cause the lead guy

Ewin McGreggor (Sp??) looks exactly like my husband!! It's creepy!  (But then again, it's kinda, well, er, um, a bit of a turn on!!)

Oh, BRIMSTONE! I've missed you!
But, as far as your comment, I thought you were already dead? I feel disappointed now.  I'd be happy to know you are living of course, though! So, what is it now? Oh, yeah, "Seven" Yeah, that was quite disturbing, too. Good choice.

man-boy, I didn't see that movie, but friends told me about it....
I choose not to see it (originally cause it looked stupid to me) but now I just know it's a tear jerker, so I say, Nah. No thanks. Sorry it disturbed you so much though!

The movie "Scarface"
The scene where his friend gets the "chainsaw". Damn you Spitfire! The scene from Resevior Dogs was the one I thought of 1st. That scene, with Michael Madsen dancing around while toruring that poor cop was very disturbing. His nonchalant attitude while doing it was what got me!

Pulp Fiction-where Marcelous gets it in the ass, butt fucked, by some real strange weirdos.

Most of "Trainspotting". Why I watched it I have no idea.

Damn! I may be emotionally dead!

The only thing I can think of would have to be near dead guy that was tied to the bed on the movie Seven.

Great idea for a post, S.F.

Personally disturbing was to watch the little boy being abandoned
by his 'mother' in the movie AI.

Thought I'd add mine-
It was the scene in Reservoir Dogs in the werehouse and one guy was tied to a chair and the gangster guy was slowly cutting off his ear. I couldn't watch the rest of the movie. I literally can't handle any type of torture. I don't mind seeing campers being hacked up by Jason, but even fictional torture is emotionally damaging to me. I always thought I may have been tortured in a past life.
