Whammie, ain't it great?
Unfortunately, it doesn't happen often enough around here, but at least it does sometimes!

BB, yep. It sure does, but hopefully, this example proves
that some of us are in it for a better reason. The RIGHT reason.

Thanks Hollee, I hope so!
That's really what it's all about.

I've liked PastorTom so far
He seems very open minded and willing to really debate and talk about things, instead of preaching. He shows a person can be very religious and not be an ass about. All the exchanges I have had with him have gone over very well so.

I wish more Christians were like him.

SpitFire, I cannot stand when any two people begin to shout at each

other in their vehemence to alter another's viewpoint to their own.  I think it is great that you were both able to express that you have different opinions, and respect each other's opinions at the same time that you may not agree with them!

I guess it falls apart when people insist on being right

Wonderful Spitfire. Much admiration for both of you. Surely you are both
working toward the same goal - peace and enlightenment for the seekers of such?

Thanks, Alf. I'll check it out. You're in my favorites list anyway,
so I was bound to come across it. But thanks for the mention! Hmmm... should I be scared? hehe.

Spitfire...
Sorry about that you never know.  Also, I included you in a post where I went off my rocker with a crazy idea, called the women of blogit, don't know if you have seen it but there is a paragraph about you in it, I thought you should know.  The blog has become the center of mild controversy, nothing too heavy.

Alf, unfortunately, (for me) it's smoke.
Darn.  Awww Shucks

Alf, I need to go check out that pic. I haven't seen it yet.
I'll let you know. As far as unicorn "alerting" PastorTom about me being a witch, I am not sure I saw that, but if it's the one she left in the community blog (which had NOTHING to do with the community post that was left, of course) I'm not surprised. You see, "unicorn" long ago aka PastorB (Brenda) have had many dialogs and she is a very closed-minded, hate-filled individual whom I long ago chose no longer to deal with. I don't have time, nor do I feel the need to defend my beliefs and deal with anyone who calls themself clergy with such hate in their heart.

DEVILINME1, all I can say is WOW. I am really sorry your family had to
endure such disrespect for your pepaw. IMO, that is exactly the opposite of what God would appreciate. I do think that PastorTom has open-mindedness and as I said in my post, I respect that. There are way too many religious people that preach love and faith, but unfortunately, live the opposite way. Thank you for sharing your story.

Spitfire,

I was actually reading the comments on some blog that you and he had both been commenting on.  He had just missed the  non-denom clergy remark I think, then it was Unicorn who alerted him to the fact that you were a witch an not clergy at all or somthing to that effect.  I am paraphrasing.

I agree, it is very cool and refreshing to meet someone who diagrees with you and has no malice.  Especially in blogitville I am learning.

Hey btw, the pisture of Drewe on Arialas picture blog site, is that smoke or ectoplasm?  Hope you are doing OK with the Brit situation too   ~Alf

I agree spitfire.. I think he maybe he had to put that little dig in

before he humbled himself, but I guess in some ways we all have to do that to a point.  What I believe is that we all have a right TO believe. And that goes for anything, or any type of religion. I personally do not have a religion I cling too. I was born baptist, hard core baptist. Hell , fire , and brimstone preachers face turned red when he told you how you were going to rot in hell for being a dirty sinner. But I let all the nastiness in that church go,  and stuck to believing  that all faiths are right if they are right with you.  And I did this, because of my Grandparents.  Like I said, hard core baptist, my grandmother, mom aunts. BUT, my Grandfather, hard core catholic.  2 religions that butt heads  horribly.  And yet I never heard one unkind word from either of them about the others religion. They looked past all the "rules" and "myths" of their own strong beliefs, because they loved the other so deeply and knew something they loved could not be that bad or wrong. My pepaw even walked to church, so we could have the car to go to ours. We did christmas at the catholic church.

It really put things into light for me. And after he died, my memows church said awful things about him and the fact that he wasn't in heaven  because of his religion, and they did this a week after he died in the sermon. My memow, mom, and aunts left crying.  And then it really made me pull away from religion.  Religion is man made, spirituality is god given. Or what ever it is that makes you whole or at peace.  I thought you handled Thom really well..
