Spitfire...for me it would be
relatively easy. If I was a witch I would admit it. If I wasn't I would recieve the torture.

tg, YES!!!! Very good example of such unjust astrocities even
in our day and age. Sad and scary. Catch22 is an understatement, here.

Rachel, It was such a catch 22 back then that no matter what you said
it would be held against you anyway. That's why I agree with you in your choice here. Even if I wasn't a witch, I would probably say I was to spare myself the torture. I'd know I would be killed eventually, anyway, so why not just spare myself the torture and get it over with?

Talion, I don't think any of us could really say what we would do in that
exact situation. Hopefully, none of us will ever have to find out!

Good for you, Pecan!
It would be hard, but admirable.

in another witch hunt
the HUAC hearings investigating communist influence in hollywood -- someone was asked the quesiton of Congress Are You Now Or Have You Ever Been A Communist? His answer:
"we're not allowed to tell."
actor Howard da Silva -- Ben Franklin in 1776 -- tells this story in an old documentary about the days of the Hollywood Blacklist. tg

I'd admit I was a witch!
Even if my definition was different than their. Then, I'd hold my head high while they killed me. :)

It's easy to say I would stick to my guns, but there's a whole new perspective once the torturing starts. I would like to think I could never be broken, but I'm not sure. That's a question about myself I'd rather not have to answer.

I don't worship the devil; so I would never admit to their definition
of being a witch. Nope...they would torture and kill me; but I would stick to my guns and the truth.

I'd stick with my innocence.
They're gonna kill you either way, so might as well stick with the truth.
