Good point westwind

If one resides in hell for eternity…then their spirit is not dead…they are just in perdition…

I just have one question…

What would be God’s point to eternal punishment?

It sounds like an awful waste of energy, to me…the God I know…wastes nothing…

well if you want to call the "spirit" that goes to hell for eternity not dying, o.k.

no one dies
spiritually -- not totally

Although I disagree with Julian,
it is true, sin, which causes spiritual death, is the ultimate devastation and destruction.

I'm with you. One makes a choice to move toward or away from "God". If the choice is away, then sin has occurred.

Loved this post, as well as, the two before it. I also liked the comments that were generated. But I want to offer up one small thing, to think about. The word “sin” and the word “choice”…cannot exist without each other, it’s impossible. “Choice” as most people understand it, implies the possibility of failure…simply by way of making the wrong choice. In other words, the existence of “choice” delivers with its presence the possibility of error “sin”.

James, Chapter 1 verse 13: Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man

God makes no mistakes; creates no sin, and has he never created a method by which sin can be delivered.

“Choice” “or judgment of choice” belong to the worldly.

“Perfection” belongs to God.

These are two totally different languages. But those of this world, cannot see nor understand anything, other than a worldly language or perception of it. Everything, as it is at this very moment, is exactly as it was intended to be…

If “sin does not exist” then neither does “choice”.

I could be wrong here, but this is how I see it…right now. I have come to understand that blaming (judging of choice) serves no purpose, because in the long run, I will die anyway. Hence, “do not judge”…anything nor anyone.

Man does not live by bread (choice) alone…nor does he die by it…he (individually) exists by the will (or breath) of God…period
