I like your take on it. Slowing evil down to use it as a tool for good. . .

I agree. You can be like a flashlight and direct a person to make the right choices, but ultimately the choice they make is their own; if they choose destructive behavior there is not much one can do about it.

A word picture::
negative and positve molicules hold  atoms together...God slows evil as a tool.... ultimately for His good, becaise everything He does is good.

yo've got to be a flashlight
and if they don't want to go that way, fine.

but let me tell you a story.

someone I know.
basically didn't correct her son -- the son ran wild all over the neighborhood and was pretty well destructive. property trespass -- stealing -- other things.

even got a c/o for the new husband not to be able to touch his new stepson.

son grew up, ran with the wrong crowd, did drugs, got in trouble with the law.

still has problems -- all sorts.

she should have been directing him into a better path from the beginning -- to the best of her ability, not allowing the destructive behavior.

what you do is look down the road to the future -- ask what it will be like

ask the person where they think their activities will lead them. insist that they consider -- that they tell you what they think will be the result of their activities.

on the subject of evil - I guess I don't have Webster's in mind -- I have destructive and counterproductive behavior in mind.

so let's define it as such for purposes of this subject.

We can effectively inform our children about what things cause us harm in the world.  Sometimes, that's the most effective solution.

Thanks for the kind words. And you ask some pretty good questions yourself.

Good post, San

and courageous of you to take the stand you have.  Christians will blast you for it, ya know.  If evil is another word for immorality, than there is alot to ask yourself about what is immoral (rather than what is moral).  Is it immoral to kill your son so that you can gain favor from a supreme being (so you are told)?  Is it immoral to chide someone into stubborness, or even hypnotise them to be disagreeable) just so you can wreak greater havoc on their friends, family and country?  Is it immoral to sacrifice a living being, who never disobeyed you or offended you in any way,  so that you can forgive the faults and weaknesses of others who chose to do as they please and somehow offend you?  Is it immoral to divide humanity into "chosen people" and "all others, who you will destroy because they won't admire your greatness?"

I hold out that if you believe in Jesus, that he died for sin and to bring salvation, then you should also put your faith into his promise to count you as one of his before the judgement bar.  When a Christian judges others, they do so because they lack faith in the attonement of Christ--they are afraid that someone would get away in this life without the suffering necessary for the christian to feel vindicated, justified, or righteous.

Good work San--keep it up.

Peace,

Freerain
