You may know that word.smith has started a critique group here and the opening of a novel I'm writing was the first subject. Fellow members gave their honest opinions, pointing out the flaws and things that needed work. They also pointing out some of the positives as well and I never felt as though I was being attacked. A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down. I realize that publishes will not be as gracious, but I know the game. It's not about me. It's about the work.
