A paper on morals and manners would be interesting reading. I've found a really fascinating book by Victor Frankl, who wrote "Man's Search for Meaning" on his experiences as a concentration camp inmate, a Jew, and doctor. He survived to become a psychiatrist who specialized in treating survivors of the Nazi camps. So, he has some unique insights. The phrase he wrote that sticks with me is (paraphrased), "Stop wondering what you expect from life, what does life expect from you.?". He said the difference between those who survived and those who didn't were those that found meaning in their experience.
His second book is "The Doctor and the Soul". He invented a theory of psychotherapy called "Logotherapy" (Logos meaning more than "word", but also symbol, meaning itself.") He found all other theories of psychotherapy lacking in healing the whole human. What difference does it matter how complexes and neuroses develop when the patient is wondering what meaning his life has?
