Many creative types, i.e. writers, artists, etc. have trouble in these areas. We're restless people with a dark side that no one 'gets'. As for the sleeping issue, biofeedback is what worked for me. You can pick up a book on it and teach yourself.
Biofeedback is also good for helping you learn to 'focus' better.
