- Go to Lilly is Gone…
Koriani, well, I bet she did/does still come around, but
you just weren't out there to see her.

Same thing here...
I've raised and released a few wild critters over the years. The hardest was Maggie. Maggie was a raccoon that I bottle raised. She quit visiting when I was three months pregnant with my last daughter. I still feel like she quit coming because I was too tired to stay up and wait for her anymore.
Maggie never showed up till after dark (usually about 9/10pm) and I was always in bed by about 8 or so...

Taps, thanks. It is always hard when the time comes for
a release day. It is always up to the individual squirrel; it's their decision each day I take them outside towards the end of my rehabbing them. I always let them make the final decision each time. That's how we're both sure they're ready to go. For a while after their release, I always leave a safe place for them where they can see it with food and a blanket with their scent on it just in case things get too scary for them.

Awwwww, that's hard. I know you did the right thing but it is sad--the empty nest syndrome.

I'm okay, Symph, thank you!
It's sad for me to let them go but I know it's the right thing for them.

erinlove, I thought about you that day
when I was watching Lilly run around in the tree. I know, it's never easy but think of the good you did for her. She'll be a free and happy squirrel!

Lilly is going to be just fine.
You know that she will love her trees and the wide open outdoors. And when you miss her just remember, Stanley would glady take her attention. LOL.
