Good luck with BSL! I find the different sign languages very interesting. Japanese SL is so much fun!
But my passion does lie with ASL (which is based on French SL if ya didn't know).
I did takes years of ASL in the past, but have forgotten so much of it, so the course I am taking now is more of a review than anything.
Thanks for wishing me well!

NOT TO CONFUSE THINGS, I'M SUPPOSED TO BE STUDYING BSL
In my quest for knowledge of all sorts, I have received the material I need to get started in learning Sign Language.
But being in the UK I am trying to learn BSL (British Sign Language).
I'm really pleased that you have had your first lesson and feel you are making progress, not to mention meeting and making a new friend.
I will be learning BSL in my own home, so I just need some more discipline to get on with it. But my problem is I'm still looking for the 25 hour day and 8 day week. Lol then I'll have more time to spend on here.
Anyway I wish you well.

I am! I love ASL so very much. I can't begin to express what I feel for the language. And Deaf Culture is so very different from our own spoken culture. It's really amazing. It combines my passion for languages in general with my passion for ethnic studies (only in this case, the culture isn't ethnic). . . . Cultural studies, I suppose would be more apt.

ASL is wonderful and so expressive! You should try to learn more! I've found that there are things I can express in ASL better than I ever could in spoken (or written) English.

MY SONS GODMOTHER IS DEAF
and I took some signlanguage classes some years ago, some of which were taught by her... but she communicates so well verbally that I do not get to use it... It is great brain exercise!
