people don't understand great minds

Yeshua said a lot of things they don't understand.

they can only see certain things in certain ways.

the seeker finds

the non seeker does not

a door won't be opened unless one knocks on it.

one won't receive unless one asks.

one will not find unless one seeks.

so where are all these commenters?

Colors, Shapes, and Sizes

Mixing many colors will often turn the dye black. But he said all were white.

I think that he is saying, All people are necessary and therefore are pure…regardless of opinions concerning their characteristics…or actions.

Life would not be life…without all kinds.

I think there is significance in the fact that Yeshua spoke of a dyer. Because dyers did in fact mix colors. I wasn't too concerned with whether or not the concept of light was known or not because, as you say, many miracles were performed that were beyond comprehension for that time. It does seem to me, if I recall correctly, that there were descriptions of multi-colored lights turning into white lights in some of the extra-canonical gospels. I do see it as baptism by immersion, but I do think there is significance in the white color.

The gospel of Philip is a strange one, sannhet
And Jesus as the dyer seems to have to do with baptism by immersion.  But the many colors becoming white light?  They must have known of the rainbow produced by pieces of prismatic glass and it might seem like the many coming together to become one, but it's a stretch.  Certainly Jesus might have done it, but would the people around Him have been able to follow?  I'm not sure they knew enough about light back then.  But then, Jesus performed many miracles that might have been the manipulation of science unknown to even men of our time, so who really knows.  Very interesting stuff, sannhet.
