I rather like Fulghams's kindergarten rules.

But a dedicated and tightly controlled minority among us has to follow Von Clausewitz, LaoTzu, and George Patton so that others can follow Gandhi and Buddah.

Any philosophy starts out with "This is the truth....", meaning "..and if it isn't the same as this, it is wrong".
