Exactly. One works toward Christ Consciousness - on becoming one with the I AM.

mastery
claiming a connection with the divine should be an expression of experience, not a statement of intent. a true master encourages his followers to be independent and free, as he/she is. great stuff, by the way.

Christ is an achievement…not a person.

It is becoming one…with The One…

People take things so personal…they think son of God…means men, or a man in bodily form…

Jesus became one…with The Christ…

He became one with…IAM.

And he took on the responsibility to prove it…for everything…

He is the first born from the dead
all of them that believe in His Name are born from the dead.

a gree with both sannhet and ariala

their ideas don't really clash

because there is only one Christ

and that Christ, besides being what Ariala states, resides in all of us -- it's in Colossians, I'm sure - "Christ in you, the hope of glory."

Yeshua said "Why do you marvel when I say I'm the son of God, when the Psalmist says 'ye are gods'?" (paraphrased)

"what is man that thou art mindful of him, or the son of man that thou considerest him."

people are the "son of man".

Paul spoke of our being in the "spirit of adoption" whereby we cry, "abba, father."

we are brethren and co-heirs according to Paul.

Sannhet, I think it can mean many things...if you read the verses before,

Christ is talking about knowing God and knowing Him...it's about sharing truth.  Today we can reach many more people where is in Christ's day there was no TV, radio and Internet to reach people for God.  Our scope of outreach is even greater than Christ's.   Many take John 14:12 to mean only miracles, but I haven't seen too many people on a big scale perform the feats that Christ did...could it be people are misinterpreting that verse?  Maybe it has more to do with what I'm talking about.  I dunno...just an idea.

Other things we can do that Christ couldn't:

  • Provide shelter for the poor via sharing massive funds through churches, missions, etc.
  • Travel to other countries via transportation systems that didn't exist in Christ's day...
  • Healthcare, alternative medicine on grander scale...

I'm sure you can think of more.  In the whole 14th chapter, there is not one mention of miracles.

Ariala -
I know you and I disagree on this, but I am curious to know how you read John 14:12?

Good point. The words don't need to be correct. It's your heart that needs to be "correct".

Painter -
I see it that way as well. I think this is what Yeshua was talking about in John 14:12 when he said we could do works like him, and do even greater works then him.

There is only one Savior and Lord, therefore the Bible is correct and
people who claim that christ consciousness leads them to become exactly as Christ was and is, is simply diluted.

posted by Ariala on March 2, 2005 at 2:39 PM | link to this | reply

Don't know much about all that, but...
God looks on the heart. If you believe in your heart, then the words don't necessarily have to be theologically or religiously correct.

AGREED

the bible is replete with references to regular human beings being

sons of god

and particularly the New Testament.
