Yeah. We are in a real pickle.
Some days I am mostly just resigned to watching the whole sordid mess unfold, try to keep the shit off my kids, long enough for them to make some better choices.
And then when I close my eyes I can dream that things were better.

I think it's time for real liberals to stand up and show what real liberalism is about.
It got to be the "in ting" in the 60's and just a fad -- then the fad died down.
politicians took up the label and promoted programs and ideas that wer basically half-baked
and then mostly -- conservatives derailed the process. Roosevelt's New Deal was supposed to be just a beginning, as was Johnson's Great Society.
Conservatives, particularly in the South, stonewalled every step of the way, denying Blacks the opportunity to get good jobs and rise above poverty and ignorance.
And then what is called liberalism was given basically false descriptions and the Clintons pushed ideas without confering with others and understanding the consequences -- like their brand of universal health care and the "don't ask, don't tell" policy.
LIberals have to show that liberal programs do benefit evrybody -- the poor, the common folk, the blue collar and other working folk and also business. Good programs will do this. They will give everyone better things that are more stable.
I'll have to post about this.

EHP....
My question is: why are we in a world of a never- ending bandying about of half-baked generalizations? Conservatives give us a definition of liberals that is inaccurate, liberals give us a definition of conservatives that is inaccurate, and each accuses the other of brainless political views. The only brainless behavior that I can undertake is to believe either side.
Excuse me for listening to neither. They are both filled with vituperous shit. Once in a while I go to a blog to see if everyone is still the same. They always are. I think it will be some time before I visit another blog that shows any sign of political content. JJ

My question is, what are we liberals going to do in response?

It would be more interesting if it wasn't all so typical...and repetitive.
