Good and bad, there, DarrkeThoughts. But I had heard that the air quality
around SLC was getting pretty bad. As is Denver's (speaking of predominantly rural states).

Supposedly we have a longer life expectancy due to less drinking and smoking percentage wise. Our air quality sucks...at least around Salt Lake, it's nearly as bad during the winter as LA is in the summer.

I don't doubt, DarrkeThoughts,
that Utah is healthy in its air quality and such. But that is a different sort of healthy. But, as I said, I am surprised at some of the survey's findings.

Can't say a lot about Michigan, David1Spirit.
Visited Detroit about 20 years ago. What I saw, I liked. What I read, I don't. That is probably true of a lot of cities. And how 'bout them Spartans?

I think you're right, empty_handed_painter.
Healthier, better socially-adjusted individuals seem to come from rural settings. Of course, that could just be a societal discrimination brought on by years of hearing it said. But I am one to agree, since I, too, come from a bucolic area.

it looks like they're somewhat skewed toward urban states
Missouri is the most rural of the top five -- yet it's got two major urban areas -- and Springfield.
many rural states, such as Iowa and South Dakota, are lower in the order.
I wouild hasten to disagree with such assessment if they are equating urban accessibility with being good places to raise children.
If I could, I'd keep my kids away from the urban mess.
better kids have come out of rural settings.
great people.

I guess that explains Kooka and his sister
since they started out in Missouri and finished up in Colorado
good vibes all around.

And Utah is only in the middle?

I thought we were supposed to be one of the healthiest states (overall). Do you suppose we aren't passing it on to our kids? Our schools aren't that good though...it's more what the parents teach at home.
