On Threats On Mirrors
Okay, I agree that the guy's mind probably was not on his grammar, however, I know that were I to write a threat on a mirror in lipstick (or in a mirror on lipstick, even), I'd automatically use "you're." It wouldn't be something I'd think about. It'd come naturally.
That's where my concern lies. If this man who DID actually write the threat didn't have "you're" come naturally to him, then he wasn't taught well in school.
And I see this particular error all over the place. It is one of my peeves. As is using an apostrophe -s to make something plural.
There is a used car lot on O`ahu. In front of the lot is a HUGE sign reading "USED CAR'S." I know I, personally, will never buy a car from them. And each time I pass the place, I just want to go in and tell them how stupid they are. But I know I'll get the "romaine lettuce" look if I do.

Oddly the first comment concurs with what I was going to post. . .
I do care about grammar and spelling. I sit at the keyboard with a Webster's Dictionary as my companion. I don't write threats on mirrors with a lipstick though and I really think someone that does would not be concerned about content. Only the "fear factor".

At the Veggie Market
...yesterday I noticed that the staff had mispelled romaine. As the veggie man was putting out raspberries i said to him "I'm not sure if you care about this sort of thing, but I thought I'd let you know that you had mispelled romaine". The guy just gave me a dirty look. "Okay, you don't care then, righto" and on I went with my shopping.
Anybody can make a spelling mistake, but not caring if a public display is spelled wrong seemed a bit discouraging to me. I think people don't care about spelling or grammar at all anymore, and worse, they dislike people like you and me, who do care.

Your right - people should start taking their writing skills a bit more seriously.

On Lipstick In Mirrors
Is that some sort of "Through the Looking Glass" story I haven't yet read?

Seems accurate to me.
I don't think people writing on lipstick in mirrors are the type to differentiate between "your" and "you're." I'm guessing they were shooting for authenticity.
