Well, now you do realize how this happened don't you?
The doom-influenced kids killed other Doom-influenced kids who would have killed the normal people. Hence, the voilent crime rate has gone down and Doom has provided an important public service. However, at some point the dominant violent offenders population will outnumber the weaker doom influenced people and will have to start killing normal folks. Therefore I predict a rise in violent crimes unless enough new violent games are provided.

Killing them is usually much easier and much more gratifying than simple arguing. You should go GTA style and beat them down with a bat after you've had sex with them in your car to get your health to 125%. Violent video games serve to teach us how to deal with real life problems!!

Very nice.  Now I can actually use statistics when I argue this point with people.  Or I could just kill them.

I've always believed that people use violence in the entertainment industry as a cop out.  It's just people not wanting to take responsibility for their actions and people not paying attention or disciplining their children.  It's common sense.  A game is a game.  It's not real life.  How hard is that to teach?
