You may want to get another job anyway.. after what he said to you it should be obvious the guy really is a jerk. People like that are on a power trip of some kind. Who knows, maybe he's getting it from the one above him. Either way, it doesn't sound good. I hope you find something really good for you!

sorry doll, the ADA won't protect you here...
It only protects you as long as you are able to perform the function of the job. Under the Act he has to make reasonable accomodations, but if you cannot do the job with those accomodations, and he can no longer accomodate you (i.e. it becomes detrimental to the company or the work production) he can legally terminate you). The terminology is that he doesn' t have to provide you any accomodations that will call you cause him or the company undue hardship. If you want more info, email me and we'll talk about it more.

Hacker,
Factorfiction's right. The main reason why I was never upfront about my bipolar while I was working was that while technically speaking it may be illegal and all that to fire you, they may not make it easy to do your job.

UH
roofpig has a point there... most people err on the side of caution these days... strange that this guy seems completely oblivious. He seems to be under a lot of stress to be acting as he is...
Does not hurt to look around and see what other jobs are out there. And you can check into the ADA thing, but I am not sure what the long term effects are if you go that route...

Hiya Hacker,
So, there it is: your boss is sympathetic up to a point, to the point where he feels it adversely impacts his business, supposedly. Now, what's up? When he's not getting the full'speed production out of you, he feels you're trying to play the "disability card"? Which you could, keep your job under the American Disabilities Act (ADA), it's illegal to fire an employee for having a disability. You may want to talk to a lawyer.

Um... why would you say shit like that to someone with a mental condition?
I mean, not that you personally would do anything to him, but that doesn't seem to me to be the smartest thing in the world. Hell, people without conditions have snapped and come back to kill coworkers. He's either got the smallest brain in the world or the biggest set of balls.

Hacker..
I know your boss must be an utter ass, but try not to let him get your back up. Instead, look for a new job where you can earn respect and patience...Then you can tell your soon to be ex-boss to kiss your ass, like it and jump straight into hell!!!!....
...
Good luck with the job searching...Keep me posted.
