- Go to SHOULD THE RICH GIVE US THEIR SOC. SECURITY
That is true, but when you don't need it maybe you should give it back to the government with the understanding that it must be used for someone less fortunate.

If the government withdrew his money for his retirement, it is his.

If I Was Rich
I'd want the government to not even know I exist except in April when I pay my taxes.

GOVERNMENT SCREWS EVERYTHING UP
I DO BELIEVE WE SHOULD HAVE THE CHOICE OF HOW WE INVEST IN OUR RETIREMENT, INSTEAD OF BEING FORCED TO INVEST IN A GOVERNMENT PROGRAM THAT HAS OBVIOUS PROBLEMS. BUSH'S PLAN MAY NOT BE THE GREATEST, HOWEVER I GIVE HIM CREDIT FOR REALIZING THERE IS A PROBLEM. tHE AREA I FIND FAULT WITH THE DEMOCRATS IS THIS. I THINK THE DEMOCRATS KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE S.S SYSTEM, AND I ALSO THINK THEY ARE USING THIS ISSUE INTO SCARING PEOPLE THAT ARE CURRENTLY DEPENDING ON SOCIAL SECURITY AS WE SPEAK. THIS ISSUE IS NOT GOING TO DIE SUDDENLY, AND I THINK THE DEMOCRATS WILL TRY TO USE THIS AS A TACTIC IN THE 08 ELECTION

Frustrated, you have very thoughtful observations, and yes, for some reason those who have, don't seem to be motivated to truly share it with those who have not!

IN A PERFECT WORLD
THE RICH WOULD SACRAFICE THEIR SOCIAL SECURITY, BUT LETS FACE IT. HOW MANY TIMES DO WE HEAR THE DEMOCRATS SCREAMING AND YELLING ABOUT THE TAX CUTS. I DONT SEE RICH DEMOCRATS SENDING THEIR REFUND CHECKS, OR THE TAX MONEY THEY ARE SAVING BACK TO THE GOVERNMENT. THEY KEEP IT AND SPEND IT LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. ALL OF THESE ISSUES ARE NOT REAL ISSUES TO THE POLITICIANS, THEY ARE JUST VOTE GETTERS. THATS ALL, A WAY TO GET VOTES. IM NEITHER DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN, IM JUST CALLING THE KETTLE BLACK

I don't know, good Question.
I think its hard to answer, and to judge unless you were really in that position. It is really easy to sit here and say, yeah, I'd give it to charity, or I would do this, or that with it. You probably would, but who knows.
Like if dude has that much money, and was buying a house, would he still take the First Home Owners Grant?
Its free money isn't it?

Food4thought, I too would give mine too charity, but the way things are going now, it will take my S.S. and other retirement income to keep me from being a charity case at retirement!

I too support Bush, and I like his idea of giving the poor more and the rich less, but when you are wealthy enough to not need S.S., you should leave it for others!

Never thought about it...
But like you, I would say no. Of course I will never be in that position, unless I win the lottery in which case I will take the social security and donate it to a charity. That I promise, do you hear me Gods of Irony? Make my numbers golden! Then I will be held to my promise.
