I believe that
It makes me think of when they put frogs or crabs in a little circle and think they are going to race. Sometimes the crab or frog just sits there, and people are dumbfounded. I bought a leash for Lulu the cat when I was a teen. I put her on a leash, took her outside...and she sat down on the sidewalk and started rolling around. I took the leash off. Animals call all the shots.

More to the story
I just read that sometimes the cows don't even fight before the fight is over. 50 thousand people attend this event. We need pay per view.

Definitely cows
I looked this up a bunch of times. It kept saying that the aggressive ones lock horns. I lived next door to a beef farm for years that started as a dairy farm, so I couldn't get beyond the cows having horns. But, they do. They remove them so they won't fight. See, Switzerland is deciding that may have been a mistake. It's a trendsetter. This was basically a three-paragraph AP release. It was easy to miss unless you're used to looking for the absurd. I gravitate towards the absurd. Kim

Aha!
Well, I guess the ever-popular sport of rooster fighting was bound to have a spin-off or two. Are you sure they're cows and not bulls though? Bulls are the lucky ones who get to take on the matadors.

Well now. I am just going to have to take your word for it. Certainly this is not well publicized
