You hit the bulls eye today. When Ariala reads the bible she sees that "no man can know the season or the hour of Jesus' coming" and understands it, as most do, to be a reference to the second coming on a particular date in history. I see it as meaning also that men are unable to understand that God is not subject to the passing of time the way we are. We 'know' we have only this day, this moment to live, but we 'understand' through memory and logic that there have been and will be other days as well. But those 'other days' are imaginary, they exist only in memory and thought. Today is rightly the only day there is, and it is the last day as well as the first.

I agree. Though I do think that if we are seeking Truth, we tend to be more honest judges of ourselves than if we are not.

I like that. It's only by embracing Godly concepts that we recognize God as our God.

we see ourselves

in an obscuring mirror

or "through a glass, darkly"

if we are observant, we will notice our imperfections; and as we discover ways to see ourselves more clearly, then "we shall see as we are seen".

others are not honest judges.

neither are we ourselves

however, we shine the light of a certain ethical code on ourselves and we can discover more.

the mirror is not in front of us; it is within us; and that's the hardest mirror to use.

We create (or attempt to create) ourselves each and every day

in the image of that concept that we hold most dear.  Hence, the concept that we hold most dear becomes our God, regardless of whatever it may be, or regardless of what we may otherwise think our God to be.  It is only by truly embracing Godly concepts in our life that we truly recognize God as our God.

And for Gome:  O.K. then.

But, who is doing the judging? Or, maybe a better question is, who should be judging us?

Ariala -
Actually, I think it's pretty easy to judge. We either act in a loving way, or we don't. If we don't, we are moving away from "God". If we do, we are moving closer. It's pretty simple.

we live; therefore we are judged

Odysseus -- I can't think of one good reason why I would invite your
self righteous criticisms and condescention.

sannhet, we can all come up with religions and philosophies based on "what

if?"  So, who decides which "what if scenario" is true?  Is it based on how we think or feel individually?  Do we base truth on what we wish things would be like?  Whose words, ideas, imagination, fiction and version of truth should we make gospel?

This is why I have to stick with the Bible.  I can't take The Da Vinci Code as truth, The Late Great Planet Earth as truth, or some other work of fiction or imagination as truth.  Man comes up with all kinds of interesting philosophies based on nothing more than their own opinions.  If they choose to believe that, that's fine, but as for me, I just can't believe every whim I come up with or anyone else does.  To me the Bible is pretty clear on so much, yet people don't like it, so they choose to change it to fit their lifestyle, their thinking and etc.

I don't mean to rant, but thanks for letting me. LOL

Perhaps we could try removing the blocks now?
