Writeroflight,
LOL! Good one, that it is better left alone. The Wall Street Journal seems to ask that question today!

Glenn asks another good question!
You're doing well, my man. I don't have a definite answer for it, although I'm sure some research would turn it up in the details of the proposal. I would guess in the meantime that there will be some sort of safeguard written into the rules for the investment program to keep this from happening, most logically by not allowing withdrawal of the invested funds until one qualifies for the other Social Security benefits, and regulating the rate at which they are paid out.
"If you ever fall off message you will break your necks . . . ?" Must be referring to the loftiness of conservative thought. I will be most careful to hang on and hold the course. Thanks for your concern for my safety.

Writeroflight,
My question to you! And I know you will give me some lame.... But I'll wait. Where are we going to get the people to fund these private accounts? What if every body wants to pull their money out at once? Fact: Imbalance of Sell orders, trading halted! Opening quote 0-bids! Government bailout! And the Stockbrokers keep the cash! You people kill me with that ratio of workers spin! That is a beancounter thing. It has nothing to do with Social Security!
If you ever fall off message you will break your necks.

Possible explanation for Frustrated's dilemma
If President Bush said it, it must be wrong. I swear, that has to be how a lot of people around here think. If he said the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, they'd blast him for being wrong.

I JUST DONT UNDERSTAND IT
MOST OF ALL THE POSTS ABOUT SOCIAL SECURITY REFORM HAVE BEEN ALONG THE LINES OF, ITS A SCHEME TO MAKE THE RICH EVEN MORE RICH. OK PEOPLE, IF YOU'RE NOT RICH ALREADY, CHANCES ARE YOU'RE NOT GOING TO BE RICH. SO HERE IS WHAT I SUGGEST. LOOK AT THE PRESIDENTS PROPOSAL WITH SOME HOPE THAT YOU MAY BE ABLE TO INVEST SOME MONEY IN THE ECONOMY OF THIS COUNTRY, AND NOT GET RICH, BUT BECOME A LITTLE BETTER OFF THAN YOU WOULD BE KEEPING YOUR MONEY IN A FAILING SYSTEM. WHO REALLY CARES IF THE RICH GET RICHER. I DONT CARE HOW MUCH MONEY BILL GATES HAS. BILL GATES DOESNT PAY MY BILLS, AND SURELY ISNT GOING TO FUND MY RETIREMENT. GET OVER THE RICH ALREADY. DO THE BEST YOU CAN TO BECOME AS RICH AS YOU CAN WHILE YOU CAN STILL DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!
