I think you hit on a key point. Our senses are not tuned for what we need. They are tuned to this world and we need to be able to tune into the "other" world. I think that's why meditation or contemplative prayer is so effective. We no longer rely on our five senses, we rely on our "One" sense.

I am going for it. And what a strange trip it has been.

go for it
seek
by not seeking you will not find
explore your own uncharted territory.
there is something beyond our five senses, but it is nebulous, as it should be.
maybe it is not nebulous -- maybe our senses are so attuned to the material world around us that we cannot attune them easily to that other.
maybe also we already have a vision in our minds of what the other is, which we have gleaned from perceptons of others -- and such vision blocks our seeing the reality of the other.
I would say, if you seek, you should also discard.
the good explorer keeps his vision focused on what is ahead and around, not on what is behind.
when you move into that new realm, don't take the baggage of this one with you -- enter it like a newborn, knowing nothing. then you can learn.

I only started reading the mystics when I became close to God - and they were wood for the fire - like hanging out with friends of your most Beloved...  what is life for if it isn't to get closer to God/ to find ourselves joined to God?  Even begging God for an experience of God, is an experience of God.... like He told me the other day, "this longing keeps you in My Presence"... I'm rambling...

Go for it, Sannhet
I don't think it is something that needs doing as much as it is something that needs to be loosed in the self.  It is already in there, but covered up by reason and doubt and years of neglect.
