Hello writerof light
I believe that you are the one who missed the point. My comment wasn't directed at the content of your posting. However,it was directed towards the three words that I had in quotation marks.Probably,I wasn't clear on my comment yesterday, and I should have asked the question in a clearer way.Why is it that when a Republican is facing ethics related issues those issues become mere and insignificant? Are you saying that violating the ethics rules is or should be acceptable?A house majority leader should set an example to follow not break and change the rules and abuse his power.
People like you who are giving these incompetent so called leaders a free pass. You know damn well that what the majority house leader did is wrong and not good for the institution of Cogress and the Country as a whole.
However,an answer to your question about how I feel about Democrats violating those rules. The answer is simple. I don't like it. It upsets me,and i believe the person should resign from their post.I am not a hypocrite.I tell it like i see it.When somebody breaks the law, they lose my trust.
By the way, if you have any names of Democrat Senators and Congresmen that violated the congressional ethics rules, please let me know who they are.
On the issue of news week magazine I can't believe that all you Republicans are coming together against a magazine that published a story for all we know it could be a lie or truth or a mixture of both.Yes people lost their lives ,and that is tragic, but to say that Newsweek was the sole and main cause for their deaths is wrong.Joint chief of staff General Meyers said in a news conference in the presence of Sec of Def Donald Rumsfeld that( i am paraphrasing ) the Newsweek article wasn't the main cause for the riots. He said that there were other factors that were responsible.
On the other hand, where is the outrage abou this administration's lies?Lies about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, lies about Saddam's involvement in 9/11,lies about Saddam's connection to el quaeda so where is the outrage?Lies that killed and are still killing American soldiers and Iraqi people.Where is the outrage about those lies ? Wait. I forgot. You are a republican.

I consider the names thrown at me a badge of honor

They are emblems of victory, trophies of the battle. They mean that the name-callers are defeated, that they  have run out of legitimate arguments, and that they are reduced to discrediting themselves and their position.

Interesting.
Interesting argument that is going on between you and the other guy. Personally, I wouldn't even acknowledge someone who called me an idiot. As far as the liberal - conservative thing goes, there is plenty of mud to throw each way. Try taking a look at my politcal blogs, they are pretty liberal. Let me know what you think.

Welcome, algeroi!

However, you missed the point completely, and in so doing you proved it.

Do you know the meanings of the words "riot," "die" and "arson"? To read your comment, one is led to believe that, in your mind, it is far worse for a Republican senator to be accused of fudging Senate rules than for over a dozen people to die, many buildings to be burned to the ground, and for innocent people - including our military and aid personnel - to be endangered because a liberal "news" outlet deliberately printed a false story designed to incite riots.

And, if you're that exercised over ethics, are you as upset over the same - and very often worse - violations of Congressional ethics rules by Democrats? I would guess not.

That is the liberal view of justice - it's wrong only if a Republican can be accused of it, and anything a Republican is accused of, whether legal charges can be brought or not, is far more evil, more dastardly, more heinous than any real crime.

Are you an idiot?
Majority leader Tom Delay was accused of only "mere ethics violations" that didn't harm anyone .
Hey idiot do you know the meaning of the word Ethic ?

Please Let me know when you find the meaning of that mere word.
