Can't do that, tigerprincess. The girls thier own age won't have anything
to do with the sick bastards.

Go Mom!!!!!!
You'd think with all the instances of sting operations, these perverts would learn to go for more their own age.

I don't beleive that I'd be above vigilante action either, MayB. I know my

limitations, and if street justice solves the problem, then I'm all for it.

look I can understand re this issue. It would make my skin call to speak to these lowlifes but I would do it too to protect my kids or even someone else's. Indeed on this issue I would go so far as to support some vigilante action

Oh, I know, MayB, I was just going on, getting all up on my high horse.
Sometimes I think I should become a politician -- or a preacher.

er..yes Saul I am agreeing with you.

maybe so, MayB, but sometimes distasteful avenues must be taken to
reach a much needed destination.  In this regard, a world where there are no predators (which will never occur) or the closest thing to this, one where predators fear parents and police, fear the tools which they love to use to lure their prey, therefore limiting the actual occurrences of predatory pedophilia.

Yes, Tapsel-T, it is too bad. Our children shouldn't have to worry about
predators, and neither should we.  But mothers like the Iowa mom and terpgirl30 are around and being heard from.  Hopefully, they'll start a movement and be a great force to be reckoned with.

terpgirl30 and saul relative, that is certainly a good strategy even if it kind of leaves a nasty taste.

You are so right, there, terpgirl30. And please do go on and
bait those scumbag pedophiles when you retire.  Someone needs to do it.  Someone that's pretty good at it helps.  My hat is off to you.

Good for that mom, Saul_Relative.   Monitoring is so important for our children's well-being.   Too bad it has to be that way.

Good for her!!! I did this, but not to this extent.

My daughter is 21.  When she was 14 or so, the Internet/kid thing was just hitting full swing.  I caught something the day before it happened.  I IMed the guy as if I were my daughter.  I told him he couldn't call my house obviously because my mom would be mad, so I had to call him.  He gave me his number. And I gave him an a++ kicking.  I called the police, but that the time there weren't any organized divisions for that.  Mind you, I was a law enforcement reporter, so I knew where to look.  It's very different nowadays.

It turns out the guy was only around 18, and mentally younger than my daughter.  I really believe he thought she was older since she doesn't type in teen lingo, but uses full sentences and punctuation instead.  He seemed pretty shook up to find out how old she was.  I kept tabs on his after that, and saw nothing funny.

After that, I made a simple AOL profile that I was a 13-year-old, blonde-haired girl.  You can't imagine the number of crazies who started to IM me.  When I go into quasi retirement, this is what I will do with my time.  I felt like I needed a shower after some of the emails.

You have to protect your kids from themselves at that age. You can't assume they are savvy. Many are book smart, and that's just enough to get them into trouble with scum.  My daughter got to a point that she could get my passwords (changed all the time), make up another identity, then delete it, so it wouldn't show up when I went online.  Unfortunately for her, I'm much more devious, and I found out.  I will say, the AOL people were great with helping me track anything I needed down.  I thought they would be very "not my problem."  I may have gotten the good people (all around 18 or 19, too), but they went above and beyond.

Sounds scandalous and overly permissive. What is trying to be a friend and
a pimp?  He damned sure isn't working on being a parent.

Do I have a story to tell!

The Scientist's daughter posts her phone number in her profile on at least two chat sites I know of. I have told him this - and she still has the cell.
