liberals would like to drop the arrows of war, which is why they're so damn easy to pick on.

iduwalk, that's a very interesting comment!
Thanks for sharing that. I don’t see it as a matter of tough versus nice. You’re right, being nice is hard when you’re under pressure. But the issue here is the man’s behavior in the public spotlight. Not only has he most definitely not been “nice” towards Mr. Bolton, he has given the world an image of a United States Senator breaking down and blubbering.
The “manly man” metaphor is meant to describe one who can be genuine with his feelings but, to use your comment on the difficulty of being nice, has the courage, the strength and the common sense to contain them when giving them free rein would result in unseemly and inappropriate conduct like Shorty’s.
The eagle’s head is turned the right way. I think liberals would just as soon he drop the arrows of war altogether.

TARZANA,
This is an interesting contrast to your other persona? And I like it!

Well, now that I'm almost 40 years old, I've finally gained enough strength of person not to attempt being nice to parties who continue to screw my world in general. They are without honor and deserve no honor. How will my children have the strength to defend themselves against the screwheads while they are young? They won't, any more than I did. That's why there should be more people who are willing to say outloud, "Camilla is a murderous whore, and Charles a Prince to us no more!" Freedom from the tyranny of evil Kings was long ago won. Let us not lose our freedom to the sickos that have bred themselves here against our will!

take a look at the dollar bill
There's a picture of the eagle. In one talon, he holds an olive branch indicating peace and in the other, arrows of war. It's no accident that his head is turned towards the olive branch.
Being a manly man isn't about being tough, it's about being nice, which is really, really tough because most people perceive being nice as being weak. A manly man knows when he can be nice and when he needs to be tough.
I don't think that you, and most conservatives, understand this. You would prefer that the eagle turn his head towards the arrows of war, but that's not what has made America the strongest, and best, country in the world.
A manly man doesn't need to turn his head because he knows what power he possesses.

Writeroflight,
Your "where were yous" are directed at the wrong person? Bush is President you know! Who are you going to blame when this clown is indicted for lying to the American People?
