Hey, Ends_of_the_Earther. As a matter of fact, the farmhouse slayings were
northwest of Columbus.

BRIMSTONE: All these killings reminds me of a Blue Oyster Cult song
called "Harvest Moon." It's a great song, but kind of eerie. It's on their Heaven Forbid album. Check it out and see if you agree. Also, I have my own pet theory on children growing up in the heartland in small rural towns or farming areas: the constant reminder that they live a long way from somewhere they might not ever see. There's a desperation there, and endless fields just add to it. Throw that on top of teenage angst and wanderlust, the feelings of being constrained and the need for personal freedom.
And maybe I'm wrong, but I do not beleive that urban kids kill for the same reasons (predominantly) that rural kids do, although I'm sure that motives sometimes overlap.

Interesting
Is it southern Ohio mainly? It seems so. I am in the north. We just burried a senior family member in this town and I had somehow missed this news. Thanks for the story and the blog comment.

I think that there is something about southern Ohio that leans me to believe that there is something dark at work here. Call me crazy if you want, I don't care. It could be that there are just alot of hilljacks down here that want to ape the personas of the "bad guys" you hear about from the big city news - I don't know.
I just get this "tingling" about this place here lately and I've lived here all of my thirty years.
It's just, I don't know...something...

BRIMSTONE:
The killings in West Virginia were on the Ohio border, and one of the teenagers killed there was from Ohio. As an Ohioan, do you feel that there is something about Ohio that lends itself to this type of deadly mentality, or are we just experiencing a rash of these violent episodes and Ohio just happens to be the setting for quite a few of them, like all the church fires in Virginia (and a couple of other southern states)?

A few months ago, investigators discovered bodies in Hillsboro, Ohio - (just ten miles down the road from me) - buried either in or nearby a garage that happened to be an automobile repair shop.
There's something about this place...
