wrong again
CIA ws bullied into almost manufacuring evidence by Bush Adm. -- changing it and giving untrue reports.
CIA did not see any such production of WMD's -- they as much as told the Pres. a couple of operative who gave the report were given new positions as punishment and a message: give the information we want to hear and give the nation to serve our own faulty conclusions, not the truth.
all the info about WMDs, etc., was given by suspect sources.
I have linked to a page demonstrating the lies the adm told to get us into Iraq.
you have a choice -- believe lies, or go on a true course.

the problem with the Repubs is
they did not go on the offensive against constant Democrat assault over the last 2 years. The American public turned against the war because of the media just like in the 60's and the Repubs just lay around like a bunch of country club frat boy goofballs who have not learned squat from history. I mean its all about the media. How else does the public know ANYTHING? How else does the public even know we are at war?

Great post Kingmi, and very interesting comments.
I never cease to be amazed at the troubles democrats and a select number of wishy washy Republicans have recalling the very bilateral and nearly unanimous votes in favor of going to war with Iraq. As well, they seem to have a very selective recall when it comes to remembering the intelligence data that was provided to all parties involved prior to the Iraq invasion.
Not to beat a dead horse, but it would seem to me that a certain percentage of our leaders, as well as those of a certain party, have chosen to have very selective amnesia with regards to their objection of the War. So would they have the balls to call themselves liars, too?
That said, I myself have been rather wishy washy over the whole Iraq war. It's not something I am strongly behind; however, it certainly has most definitely NOT affected the way I voted today. There is so much more to being a Republican than how the Iraq war is doing. For one thing, this business of 40 million lives lost since Roe v Wade, not to mention the whole stem cell debacle (I'm all for cord/adult stem cells). OK, don't get me wound up.
(Sorry to ramble.)

You're so right Kingmi, Somebody is Lying!
Wonder Who?
Let's look at it simply. The most important difference between North Korea and Iraq is that economically, we just had no choice in Iraq. The country swims on a sea of oil. (Statement by Paul Wolfowitz, deputy defense secretary at the time of comment; now head of the World Bank - June 2003.)

Kingmi- Great post.
Damon Leigh- I hope you are not one of the several Brits on this site who have cried about Americans abuse of the English language. "Terror" is a noun there chief (Roget's just to be certain). Didn't you have something published before? Just for laughs though let's use your erroneous adjective label and point out some other "myths" I suspect you believe in like "The war on poverty" or "The war on hunger".
Military Wife- I'm glad you pointed that out. You can hide anything. Especially something as concentrated as a biological agent. Consider the U.S. where at any given time there are probably several thousand tons of cocaine in circulation. All of that comes from outside the U.S. undetected. Another thing nobody mentions is simply that Saddam or his associates could have passed the technological secrets on as we know has already happened in Pakistan.

The Things That Can Be Buried In The Sand
Before my husband left for Iraq, I was given the name of the post he was supposed to be send. For various reasons he went elsewhere, but I digress.
This post and you can look it up on the net (I did) had a sand storm sometime back. When the storm was over someone noticed something sticking out of the sand. HMMMMMMMMMM it was a tailfin...to a MIG jet. They continued to look and found if I recall correctly 16 of them on that post alone. If you can hide a 16 fighter planes for over a year as people walk over them daily, I'm thinking you can hide other things.

Loud 'n' Proud...
...great response, man!
Offbeatpub - there is a war going on - a war in the mind of Bush, and a war in Iraq started by Bush on evidence that consisted of - and I quote - "facts fixed around the policy".
The War Against Terror (T.W.A.T.) is a myth. You can't declare war on an adjective!!
And the lies keep coming, if you're watching. Cheney said three days ago that the Iraqi insurgency was in it's dying throes. Then the commander on the ground went public and said - IN DIRECT CONTRAST - that the number of foreign fighters in Iraq was actually increasing.
Nice try, Dick. Maybe next time, you could go against the grain of the Bush White House and tell the truth for once. Especially if there are people around who are not going to bullshit for you.
One final point. Rumsfeld was asked to resign because of the lethal farce he is allegedly overseeing. His response? Well, he refused, on the basis that he's offered his resignation TWICE previously, and Bush has refused to accept it!!! Now, what are we to make of that???

I still maintain that the Republican machine has paid "plants and hacks" roaming the Planet to spreade manure! It would be very easy to prove by examining their tax returns! They have stole enough tax payer dollars to fund thier madness!
You have reason and truth to validate your humanity. Sadly they will also benefit from the good in humanity!
You ever notice that they blame Clinton for Bush not doing his job! But when it comes to Reagan and Bush I, nobody mentions the first bombing of the World Trade Center! Can't bilieve they think we should all roll-over!

Our President has not LIED! DOES EVERYONE FORGET UN RES #441? We had the "GUTLESS WONDER" Clinton for 8 years who never gave a thought to it, he was so busy getting a BJ and WHITEWATER, TRAVELGATE, ETC,ETC. I don't care if a man gets a BJ either, but by GOD not on my dime! If Clinton had been more pro active in enforcement of 441, it may not have come to this. No wonder Saddam loves Clinton.
We have a very real war going on, not just in Iraq, but around the globe. If people don't wake up, that war (terror) maybe in their own backyard. God forbid, but it could happen!
I watched old Ted Kennedy ask Donald Rumsfeld to step down from the Sec of Def today. Now to prove my point about people not remembering too good..Ted Kennedy couldn't remember where he left Mary Jo, he has no solution for Iraq , and needed to shut his freakin mouth about 30 years ago(after the Palm Beach ordeal). That fat mouth, lying asshole asks a man who has been a WORK HORSE for the better part of his life...to resign???

Absolutely!
Where are the voices calling for impeacment? They are out there, but the media won't cove the story. If you control the media, you control the minds (small as they may be) of the country.
Last week Senator John Conyers took his petition with the signatures of 576,000 American citizens on it to the White House. We, who signed the petition, wanted to ask Bush to explain the Downing Street Memo.
I have heard the right wing spinners claim that the signatures were fake "When they check with all the people who supposedly signed they will find that none did"... Well, I can't vouch for the other 575,999 but I signed it. It actually scared me a little to do so, because this administration is not above looking up every signature, and seeing what bad luck they can direct your way. Alot of others expressed the same concern, but if you want freedom you have to be willing to take a stand.
I have also heard that the "Downing Street Memo" is a manufactured lie. Funny, if that is true why have none of the people quoted in the memo said so? Why has Bush been so quiet about it? Even that windbag Rush Limbaugh said he "hasn't covered the Downing Street Memo because he simply doesn't care".
Why do we care if Clinton got a BJ, yet not care that Bush created intelligence to support a war that he wanted regardless of the circumstances? To me its not the lie itself that is important. It is the purpose, and the result of the lie that matter most. I could care less if a man not married to me cheats and lies about it. That is about as much news as "dog bites man". I do care if our administration is so corrupt that it lies its way into a war, spends billions of my tax dollars to pay for this war, and kills thousands of people in the process.
So what was the White House response to the questions of 576,000 Americans? A loud and clear "No comment".
Sadly, you probably never heard about the Downing Street Memo, Conyers petition, or the white house response unless you watch CSPAN3. The media didn't seem to consider a story worth much coverage.
