Good comments, mostly.
Fair enough question, Scoop, down at the bottom. I don’t have anything saying specifically that therapy was offered to our enemies, but they gave every sign of wanting to apply it to us to assuage – or perhaps to rub in – our alleged guilt. A few assorted quotes for you -
Dennis Kucinich: "Afghanistan may be an incubator of terrorism, but it doesn't follow that we bomb them." Marcy Kaptur, Democrat, Ohio: "One could say that Osama bin Laden and these non-nation state fighters with religious purpose are very similar to those kind of atypical revolutionaries that helped to cast off the British crown." Reverend Sharpton: "The attacks of the World Trade Center are evidence that America's beginning to reap what it has sown." Michael Moore: "Likewise, to bomb Afghanistan, I mean, I've never understood this."
The National Review Online article I linked provides further evidence, specifically from moveon.org.
Glenn, it was pretty quiet around here with you gone for a couple of days. For a Bush-hater to bitch about charges meant only to incite backers . . . and I sleep very well, thank you, and my son was not in a body bag, he was doing his damndest to ensure that he and other Americans don’t end up in them. (By the way, my humble thanks for helping pay me to do this. Each read from you is cash in my account, my friend. Always glad to return the favor.) (Another by the way: If you have a son or daughter in the service, you and s/he have my heartfelt prayers and appreciation.)
And, getting back to you, Scoop, I agree completely that September 11th should not have been politicized. But take a long hard look at who was doing the politicizing for the last couple of years. I say the Bush administration needs to set the record straight after the liberals have so thoroughly confounded it, bring the death and destruction of September 11th back into the forefront of our national conscience where it needs to be, and then everyone keep their cotton pickin’ politics off of it. And I agree – most Americans did pull together after the attacks. But the far left nut cases were the ones who could not accept the facts and had to turn it into another round of protests and divisiveness.

The real crazy part on this is that
many times republican/conservative and democrat/liberal are used by both parties when they think it fits the need. And like I said before not every republican is a conservative anymore then every democrat is a liberal. I still belive that the majority of most Americans, no matter what party came together at 9/11. When I first heard Rove I was upset but he is paid to do this, but I still feel any mention of 9/11 should NEVER be used by either party for politcal purpose.

Jethro,
Why do you people try to tell others not believe our own eyes and ears? It is clear what these people are saying! They are smarter than everybody else on the Planet. And they will kill us all to prove it! Why would anybody protect these people? They could not pay me enough money to guard this vile humanity!

Writeroflight,
You are a liar and a paid distorter of "real" fact! Karl Rove is a fat ass, blowhard with an agenda that corporate media will not confront. You people get in your privileged confines and make charges that mean only to incite your backers. How do you people sleep? Well it is not your son or daughter in the "Body Bag", so no big deal!

Might I also mention that many of our attackers are provided actual therapy by the top notch medical staff at Club Gitmo. They are also provided with Lemon Butter Chicken, rice pilaf, apple pie, etc.. Don't make me laugh.

The uproar over Rove's comments is merely a poor attempt to distract from the Durbin debacle. The left knows that if politics is a continuous back and forth bomb throwing game that people will then get turned off by politics and in turn feel that they never know who to believe. When that is the case the left has the upper hand as they still have a definitive control over the media. When honest debate goes on the right has the upper hand because facts and history have always been on our side. The left prefers people lose faith in politics.
To answer Scoop's contention I would point out that from what I gather Rove said "conservatives" and "liberals" not Republicans and Democrats. Of course the Democratic congressmen and senators voted for the resolutions. To not do so could have been political suicide after 9/11. The colors they are showing now however are true. Bash America in any way possible. That Durbin and Ted Kennedy's words are featured daily on Al Jazeera should be enough to close this argument. But right from the beginning there were newspapers and anchormen urging patience, understanding, tolerance, etc.. We had Michael Moore declaring that there was no war on terror, and for some strange reason he still got invited to every talk show there is. There was the popular cartoonist who should be spit on for the rest of his life for calling Pat Tillman an asshole after he passed, and on and on. Wimpy might not be the best word for them because it might still infer a willingness to fight however much unable. What they are is pure pathetic and outright treasonous.

Can you actually show us any evidence to prove that was the liberal
approach after 9/11? I am not saying it wasn't but I would like to see where it said "to provide therapy to our attackers?"
I do remember this from CNN though
9/14/2001:
"Congress overwhelmingly passed a resolution Friday authorizing President Bush to use force against those responsible for Tuesday's terrorist attacks, the same day it unanimously approved a $40 billion emergency spending package. The House overwhelmingly passed the use-of-force resolution late Friday night by a 420-1 margin. (...)
The Senate approved the measure by a 98-0 margin earlier in the day.
In a statement, Bush praised the passage of the measures.
"I am gratified that the Congress has united so powerfully by taking this action. It sends a clear message -- our people are together, and we will prevail," he said."
Our people are together Republicans and Democrats and I do believe that both parties and the president said 9/11 should never be use for political purposes.
