"let me not build upon death (unless it is that of my ego and the remembering of self)" - what a great line! I can't wait to see the poem.

You are absolutely right. By loving those who feel they are not worthy of love, we do prove to them that they are loving.

love doen's stop at the door of humanity.
Wise words. If somehow we could realize that we are but one form, albeit the dominant one on this planet, we might be able to better understand an awesome responsibility which is still being ignored or not understood by so many. Thanks. Hemlocker

on my way to the grocery store today I saw where they were cutting down a lot of evergreen and ivy... daisies and dandelions.... brown dirt rising in its place... cement where chipmunks once dwelt... walls where deer once dined

I'm working on a poem about this - there is nothing that has not been built upon someone's graveyard - there is no joy that has not risen upon someone's sorrow...  as I walked into the grocery store, I walked softly - so aware that even my slightest movements effect the world - bringing either death or sorrow or joy and peace... let me not build upon death (unless it is that of my ego and the remembering of self)

that's a great story. and it's true. it doesn't matter whom we love, because we are the source of it. but, what i've found is that when we love those who themselves aren't loving, we prove to them that they aren't bad. i think what we think about ourselves on a very fundamental level causes us to behave the way we do. it's sad, but it shows us where we can do the most good.
