I wonder if sometimes it isn't the other way...
that it begins with respecting oneself.  If I 'm not loving me, I'm not going  to love anyone else, because I can only come to them full of my need and pain and sadness.

that is good. what made me understand was realizing that my brother is my self. he and i are not separate, and what i do with regard to him is what i experience. therefore, to strike him is to feel the pain (psychologically, which is far worse). great post.

Nicely put.  Having spent some years researching just who were are IN HIM, I have gained a great respect for myself and others.
