You are right, DamonLeigh. I hope that I never lose sight of the fact that
in every war, there are civilian casualties -- where good, honest, decent, moral, loving and hard-working people die.

Maybe...
...the PM cares enough about his civilian population to take a public stand for them, and condemn the killing of them.
Just like our PM did for our civilians who died in the bomb attacks on Thursday.
We need to be careful not to fall into that trap of seeing 'our' civilian lives as being more valuable thatn "theirs".

The roller coaster keeps on rollin'
It was quiet for a few days but now it is picking up again. And now word comes that Iran is going to train Iraqi troops, how bizarre is that? A kick in the teeth to the US.

All too true, Spitfire, about there being no winners. But I have no
respect for a man who denigrates those who are supporting his regime. It's like a stupid dog biting the hand that feeds it for absolutely no reason. What the hell does he hope to acheive? Certainly not playing both ends against the middle?

saul,
Perfect statements here. I totally agree. However, I'm not sure how much respect I'd have for the PM if he got more personally (physically) involved. But regardless, this war is never going to end. There will ultimately be no "winners" and more and more will continue to die.
