You should have known better than to ask!

I thought you went camping!! I'm picturing you out in the woods by a campfire, clearing your mind. Instead, you're hoofing it around Paris!
I have a travel writer friend who took someone on a press trip and it was the biggest pain. You have to be so careful. It would make a good article just on "You're friends, but are you up for the joint vacation." I'm not sure about the book. Now if you had killed her, you could at least have a genre thing going.

Welcome Back!
Sounds like you've had some amazing adventures. I'm with you on the not disturbing others while they sleep. I always consider that a common courtesy but apparently some folks weren't raised that way. Oh, well. I look forward to reading all about your travels!

Militarywife, yes it is excruciating isn't it? I remember at one time my cellphone went off and it was a very dear friend who had been very ill and who I had been trying to contact and my companion was muttering about cellphones.

I had to chuckle. After a very unsuitable travel compainion last Thanksgiving, I learned sometimes traveling alone is best.
When word got out that the soliders would have a 43 hour pass for the holiday, I hooked up with some other wives and we headed to Fort Dix. One of the women absolutley NEVER shut up, she talked for the sake of talking and more often than not about stuff that made little sense. When Christmas leave came up..I rented a car and drove myself!

Yes I did think about booking separate rooms but the cost was astronomical and I thought I'd manage for one night

Your writing is so delightful anything you want to tell me is fine with me....and I've never been to Paris, so any travel companion is someone I'll put up with....I'm flexible!! Really enjoyed! (P.S. Next time, take me...I'm quiet as a mouse!)

One day, mayhap I'll be able to take the wife there. Friends have told me that Paris and Rome are the cities to see.

I like some of both please.
We have a saying here that in English says - seeing me and living with me are two completely different things. You never really know a person and what they're capable of until you have to live with them.

Girly-girl, my mini-tantrums soon pass. Sorry. You know what? As I walked about the sights I wished that my companion was my son aged 10. I feel bad (but not too bad) about whining given that I brought this on myself.
I still had a nice time. In the end I just let her deal with it herself that she was out of her depth.

Come on now, May
I like your writing a lot! Just stick with us! We'll read you, I promise. That travel companion, ugh. That reminds me of my friend, susan, inviting me to Europe to celebrate our 30th birthdays together with another friend. I knew that the trip would cost thousands, and I pictured having to give in to Susan the whole time I was overseas, or watch her pout or be aggressively rude. I knew from past experience that she has a way of being bossy and disrespectful so I quickly declined! For that kind of money I was going to go to Europe with my husband or someone not so "high maintenance"! Oh, don't you hate making mistakes like that? They just never seem to be forgotten! So sorry, but a very enjoyable read. Thanks.
