Way to go MayB!
You might be feeling mean to talk about your friend, yet it is clear that she can't be a totally wonderful friend is she is taking pot-shots at you, no matter how subtle. Inevitably, jealously will out and that is one instance of it right there.

reading through all this i don't think you are mean, really... worst thing you could do is hold in your irritations and let them fester and then blow up in her face..... you know?
