That is SO right! It has saved me several times to remember that I only have to do this right now. So far I have mostly kept to my goal of only one soda a day. Even while sitting in the hospital and the water was all gone from the vending machine I didn't drink any soda! After the service though....that was my bad day, but I haven't had another ... so it DOES work to think that way :o)

12 steps across the mall
Just remember that you only have to eat well right NOW, exercise right NOW, that you don't have to worry about the rest of your life, it will inevitably follow; but that since you can only "be good" NOW, then if you sluff it NOW you blew it...this time. Then you get back on it the "next NOW". (Please hit me a couple of times for the use of the phrase "be good", no goo or bad here, it's only your own life).
Army recruits had an exercise, to dig a foxhole as a tank approached, then roll into it and the tank would proceed over them. As the crusty old Sarge said, "You don't worry about that tank driver, just concentrate on that hole and you'll be OK".
(I'll be re-joining the ranks soon, save me a spot on the treadmil, will ya?).
