I've never heard the term Neuronaut either...

Me. I come to mind. My best friend, Bailey. We've been pondering things
for the last 17 years together. We're cut from the same cloth, I believe.
We were talking the other day, 2000 miles apart on the phone and she was likening herself to a godess, and was trying to think of the one who spent half her time in the underworld, and I said, 'Persephone', and she said, 'Yeah', and kept on. I couldn't help but cut in on her and yell, 'Damn I love talking to you Bail!'

Yeah. Keyword being "high".
However, his
Sometimes a Great Notion novel is one of the best, as in ever.
